What to Know
Enjoy historic tours of Hingham in our bright yellow electric golf cart – the Hingham History Cart! Tours are available for up to five individuals and led by Historical Society Staff trained to ensure your enjoyment and safety.
Select the day and time for your 45 minute tour and then select member or non-member and enter the number in your party. Ticket prices are as follows:
- $20 Member
- $25 Non-Member
Cart tours include access to restroom facilities at the Hingham Heritage Museum. Admission to the Museum exhibition and the Society’s Old Ordinary and Benjamin Lincoln House Museum are an additional charge.
COMING FROM BOSTON?
MBTA Riders: Hop aboard the Greenbush Line and choose one of three convenient midday trains (10:00 AM–2:00 PM), Tuesday through Saturday, to West Hingham Station. We will meet you at the station and whisk you into the heart of town. Enjoy a guided tour of Hingham’s historic streets, or be delivered directly to one of our signature sites: the Old Ordinary, the Benjamin Lincoln House, or the Hingham Heritage Museum. All locations are within easy walking distance of one another and just steps from Hingham’s charming downtown, where visitors can shop, dine, and explore at their own pace.
Reservations are required so we can coordinate your pickup at West Hingham Station and ensure a smooth, personalized visit.
The History Tour Cart Fine Print:
- The Hingham Historical Society’s History Cart is street-legal, registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and fully insured.
- According to Massachusetts law, we drive at a maximum of 25 mph and never on roads posted with a speed limit over 35 mph (this includes Route 3A and 228.)
- Seatbelts are required and no food or drink (except water) on board
- For children under 8 years old, or under 57 inches, booster seats are required, but not provided by the Hingham Historical Society.
- The History Cart will not operate during inclement weather
- The Society reserves the right to cancel or deny rides unexpectedly.
- There is a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or bullying of Society staff or fellow passengers.
- Total weight capacity cannot exceed 1,000 lbs or 5 riders (including driver)
- The Hingham Historical Society’s History Cart is not a personal chauffeur service. Wait time at pick up will not exceed 5 minutes. Last-minute schedule changes will not always be able to be accommodated.
