Hingham’s Revolutionary Weekend

Join us for Hingham’s inaugural Revolutionary Weekend May 17-18, 2025 celebrating ordinary people who did extraordinary things and unwittingly became authors of American History. The Hingham Historical Society, Hingham Downtown Association, the Town of Hingham, the Hingham Militia and various civic groups and merchants have partnered to launch a great Spring weekend to commemorate Rev250! This family-friendly event is packed full of fun for all ages.
The MBTA has partnered with us to launch summer weekend ferry service from Hingham to Boston a week early to accommodate our 250 events. Encourage city friends to attend Revolutionary Weekend or plan a night out in Boston after our local events.
The Benjamin Lincoln House and Old Ordinary will be open for guided tours throughout the day, and our expert guides are offering special Revolutionary Hingham walking tours around Hingham Square. The popular Hingham History Cart will also be out and about! Click the links below or visit us in person at the Hingham Heritage Museum to get your tickets.

Revolutionary Walking Tour
Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the “shot heard ’round the world” with a revolutionary tour! In this 55-minute guided walk, you’ll see surviving homes from the 1700s and discover how ordinary Hinghamites survived the tumultuous years before, during, and after the American Revolution.

Benjamin Lincoln House
The National Historic Landmark Benjamin Lincoln House was home to eleven generations of Lincolns from the mid 17th century to 2020 when it was sold to the Hingham Historical Society to be operated as a museum.

The Old Ordinary is a remarkable example of early American architectural and cultural history, built on the main road from Boston for stagecoach travelers to stop “for an ordinary meal” and a drink in the taproom.

History Cart Tours
Enjoy historic tours of Hingham in our bright yellow, street legal, low speed electric golf cart – the Hingham History Cart! Tours are available for up to four individuals and led by Historical Society Staff trained to ensure your enjoyment and safety.

250th Anniversary of the Battle of Grape Island Reenactment
Witness the only local battle of the American Revolution! On May 21, 1775, a skirmish broke out on Grape Island, then owned by Hingham loyalist Elijah Leavitt. To commemorate the 250th anniversary, the Hingham Militia, Wareham Militia, and the 64th Light Infantry will reenact this pivotal moment.
